The Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society is about to take a big leap towards getting international recognition worldwide by indexing in the MEDLINE database. The National Library of Medicine, USA, has very stringent policies to accept a journal for indexing. The quality of articles, the scientific content, correct scientific writing and precise form of referencing are the major issues for indexing in the MEDLINE database. I request the authors to read the instructions for publishing in JIPS very carefully and endeavor in making the scientific content and writing to optimum standards. We, from the editorial office, would give you all the required assistance if needed. Once on application, if indexing of JIPS is not accepted, we have to wait for three years before we apply again. I, as an editor, cannot do anything alone. You as the member of IPS and as authors can join hands with us in making this vision of indexing come true.

I also request all of you to submit the articles in online - in three files:

1. Title page with details.

2. Main article itself (in word document).

3. Photographs and figures with correct legends in jpg or jpeg format.

Everyone must have observed that we are indexed in the open access sites; hence, quality control is of great significance. Please note that the titles of the articles should be helpful to be used as key words. Superfluous and dramatic titles defeat the purpose of scientific writing. Such articles cannot be accessed through the Pubmed using the titles. Moreover, the purpose of scientific writings to inform and not to entertain. Concentrated inputs are needed by one and all for improving the quality of articles. Publishing for the sake of fulfilling requirements for university examinations or for adding the resume may be the need of the hour, but compromising the quality of writings and originality would result for compromising the quality of the journal.

Once again I appeal to write the references carefully in the Vancouver format and cite them appropriately in the text. As a reader, we want new messages and innovative methods of treating the patients in our practice. Hence, as an author it is now our turn to give the readers what they want. So let us pledge to do our best.
