Introduction: Occlusion is decisive factor for oral health and TMJ. Assessing occlusion is critical. For years various occlusal indicators are available like articulating paper, pressure sensitive paste, waxes. They have many vital limitations like inability to record force measurement, timing of occlusion, video recording of occlusion, first point of contact. In 1987 Maness came out with T scan to overcame these limitations. This system addressed many unanswered conflicts about occlusion. It progressed from T scan I to modern T scan III and sensor are evolved from generation 1 to current generation 5. It is now 33 years old evidence-based technology.
Methodology: Data is collected by searching review article, case report, original research from Pub med, Sciences direct, Google scholar, Research gate from 1987 to 2020. The key words used are digital occlusal analysis, T scan, computerized occlusal analysis.
Conclusion: Dental occlusion fascinates various field of dentistry. T scan is effective in diagnostic and management part of occlusion. It is important evidences-based tool in modern research of occlusion and TMJ. T scan is also useful in various discipline like Implantology, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Oral surgery, Endodontics.
